MINUTES – REGULAR MEETING
JUNE 25, 2024
CITY OF HURSTBOURNE

Mayor Mary Masick called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.

ROLL CALL
C. C. A. O. Tyler Johnson conducted the roll call. A quorum of the Commission was present.
Present: Mary Masick, Mayor
Ben Jackson, Commissioner
Marc Norton, Commissioner
Chris Leahy, Commissioner

Others Present: John Singler, City Attorney

PLEDGE
The pledge of allegiance was led by Mayor Masick.

RECOGNITION OF GUESTS
Police Chief Rob Schroeder was in attendance.

BUSINESS/ACTION ITEMS

Mayor Masick made a motion to close the Regular Meeting and enter into Executive Session per KRS
61.810 (1) (c) at 4:35 p. m. Her motion was seconded by Commissioner Jackson. Motion carried
unanimously.

Mayor Masick made a motion to re-enter the Regular Meeting and close the Executive Session at 5:46
p.m. Commissioner Jackson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. No action was taken.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The June 11, 2024 minutes were presented for approval. With a minor correction, Commissioner Jackson
made a motion for approval of the minutes as amended and his motion was seconded by Commissioner
Norton. Motion carried unanimously.

C. C. A. O. Tyler Johnson—Management Report
C. C. A. O. Tyler Johnson reported that Louisville Water will be replacing a water main on Nottingham after
the 4 th of July. The residents will receive a letter informing them of the street closures and the duration of
the project. Also, Mr. Johnson stated he will research the duration time on each issued permit on the Open/Active
Permit Log

COMMISSION REPORTS

MAYOR’S REPORT
Mayor Masick suggested that a letter be mailed to all permitted golf cart owners reminding them of the
safety rules in the City.

PUBLIC SAFETY REPORT – Commissioner Norton
Commissioner Norton had no report.

GENERAL GOVERNMENT REPORT – Commissioner Jackson
Commissioner Jackson reported there had been a recent Finance Committee meeting. The meeting
minutes will be available for review by the next meeting. He added that the City’s finances are in good
shape.

PUBLIC WORKS – Commissioner Leavell
Commissioner Leavell had no report.

CODE ENFORCEMENT/SANITATION—Commissioner Leahy
Commissioner Leahy had no report.

CITY ENGINEER’S REPORT—Chris Crumpton
City Engineer Chris Crumpton was not in attendance; therefore no report was made.

ATTORNEY’S REPORT – Attorney John Singler
City Attorney John Singler distributed a copy of the Land Code Development ordinance regarding the
cannabis amendment for the Commission to review. The amendment only allows retail stores to be in C-2
and above zoning areas.

TREASURER’S REPORT – Treasurer Mike Rhodes
City Treasurer Mike Rhodes was not in attendance; therefore, there was no report.

OTHER NON-BUSINESS/ACTION ITEMS
No further actions were taken.

ADJOURNMENT
At 6:06 p.m. Commissioner Jackson made the motion to adjourn. His motion was seconded by
Commissioner Norton. Motion carried unanimously.
